4&20 Blackbirds at the Central Saloon
Sing a song of sixpence pocketful of rye
Four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie
When the pie was open, the birds began to sing
Wasn't that a dainty dish to set before a king?
4&20 Blackbirds is a bluesy Americana band that features the songwriting and vocals of Stacy Powell along with some very talented friends. The lineup includes her longtime music collaborator, Karen Hovde, on rhythm guitar and vocals, Tad Buhman (the most interesting man in the world) on mandolin, George Seccombe (a musical chameleon) on lead guitar, Bill Roman (single-handedly bringing back tie-dye) on bass, and John Herraghty (known to wear a kilt) on drums. Their songs are an optimistic view on heartache—threadbare truths told with an overabundance of nature metaphors combined with all the best notes that music has to offer.
